Winter Parking
On days the City receives or is forecast to receive four or more inches of snow or ice the City will declare a Snow Route Emergency. During this period, parking would be prohibited on any “snow emergency route”. These routes typically are major streets such as Nottawa and Lakeview (see list below).
Secondary Streets (streets not listed as snow emergency routes) have parking prohibited on the side of the street with even address numbers during even days of the week and on the odd side of the street during odd days. For example, on December 19th cars would not be allowed to park on the odd side of the street during a snow emergency.

Sidewalk Clearance
During any snow, citizens are required to keep their sidewalks clear of snow, ice, or other nuisances for a period of more than 24 consecutive hours. Residents are required by City Ordinance to keep their sidewalks clear for the safety of everyone. The police department will take a special look at sidewalks that are used as routes for students heading to school.
If you have difficulty ensuring that your sidewalks are clear due to age or medical disability please feel free to contact the City’s Code Enforcement Officer at 659-7264. The City will attempt to assist you with your problem.
